Phoenix grew from a desire to do a CD that was focused on featuring the acoustic guitar. As a composer the creative challenge was to get as much variety as possible, both in sound and style. I went from the ukulele to a grand piano, African djembe to a jazz drum set. The music goes from funky, Latin to cool jazz and calypso, all this with the guitar being the common thread.
